LIVE SCORE BERLIN - BIMM University

We are looking for a new interpretation of our teaser for the modding project “Skyblivion”.

BIMM Berlin & Audio Creatures have teamed up to offer an incredible exclusive opportunity for you where you will get the chance to record your original score with a full orchestra! Join the competition and three of the best submissions will be chosen to fully realize their musical work with the Filmorchester Babelsberg. This extraordinary experience will take your creation to be recorded at the Film Studios Babelsburg and transform it from notation to a bonafide orchestral piece! Please carefully read the rules and terms below.

Skyblivion Brief:

Please read carefully: The story of Skyblivion takes place between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, using most of the Oblivion world as its basis. With the teaser trailer, we want to establish a new musical theme that stands on its own while fitting into the fantasy medieval world. The trailer has distinct parts and shows different environments from the mod and its world. It would be good if the music follows this narrative structure, but we are also open to other interpretations.
Ultimately, the music needs to engage and excite people, as this is the first real trailer followers will see after the project's announcement - so please give us some ups and downs and, most importantly, goosebumps while watching!

Requirements

Please click on the link below and download the video zip file containing the trailer's visual and audio elements. Use any software, DAW, sample libraries, and instruments that fit your vision. As the music will be recorded with a real orchestra, use the orchestration and instrumentation listed in the link below. Compose and produce the music as if a client were reviewing it - the more convincing the pitch and mockup sound, the better! You can work on this project solo or you are welcome to team up with other students and submit as a group (max 3 total). You must be a currently enrolled student or alumni to participate.
We're looking for a new musical theme that represents Skyblivion.

Delivery

Delivery date is the 16th of September 23.59pm GTM. Deliver a fully scored and mixed video file in MP4 or MOV format, not exceeding 500MB. You can include the music separately, but the main file should be the video. Include your full name in the video and attach any relevant information if desired. Use this naming convention:

About Skyblivion

Skyblivion is a volunteer-driven project by the TES Renewal modding group. The main goal is to bring The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion to a new generation of gamers and reintroduce it to longtime fans of the series. We are currently remaking Cyrodiil, including all its quests, locations, and characters, for Skyrim and Skyrim: Special Edition.

The prize

The top three submissions will have the opportunity to record their music live with the renowned Filmorchester Babelsberg on October 10th, in collaboration with the “Live Score Berlin” event! Additionally, the composers and producers are welcome to attend the session at Filmstudios Babelsberg on that day.

the judges

The jury will consist of BIMM staff, AudioCreatures team members, and the Director of the Skyblivion project. Music will be evaluated based on how well it enhances the visuals, meets the briefing criteria, and is written for the orchestra's instrumentation. The selected pieces for recording will be announced by September 24th and the winners will be notified.
